SIPS CELEBRATE ANNUAL SPORTS DAY 2017-18

Stephens International Public School Jammu celebrated its Annual Sports Day “ENDURANCE” with great pomp and show in the School Sports Ground. Mr. Sham Lal Choudhary, The Hon’ble Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, graced this occasion as the Chief Guest. The Guest of honour was Dr. S.D. Singh Jamwal, (IPS) IGP Jammu Zone. The dignitaries were cordially received by Dr. Kamal Saini, Chairman, S. Amarjit Singh, Vice Chairman, Mrs. Satvinder Saini, Director, Mr. Manoj Kumar Agnihotri, Principal, Mr. Vikesh Sandhal, Vice Principal, HOD’s and Co-ordinators of SIPS.
The day started off with a divine rendition by the school choir followed by a welcome song.
In his opening address Dr. Kamal Saini, Chairman, SIPS, threw light on the importance of games and sports in one’s life. He also added that the teachers and parents always played a key role in exploring the hidden talents of the children.
Vikram Singh, the Head Boy, took the oath of unity and integrity on behalf of all the competitors. School sports captain, Harsh Mandy, ran a lap round the field with the traditional torch.
This was entailed by the unfurling of the school flag and the declaration of the “Annual Sports Meet” open by the Chief Guest, marking the commencement of the ceremony. Many of balloons were released as a sign of jubilation and elation.
A spectacular and impressive, well synchronized March Past was displayed by the four houses along with NCC contingent and the police band that left the spectators spellbound and mesmeric.
The Chief Guest, in his address, lauded the ‘Sports Day’ event, stating that it was commendable and he appreciated the pains and efforts taken by teachers and students for a flawless presentation. All the events were well arranged and managed, overall, the programme was of top quality. He congratulated Mrs. Satvinder Saini, Director SIPS and the entire team for the event. He further said that students must orient themselves with the happenings of the world and the parents with the teachers must take care to instill moral values in children.
The Principal, Mr. Manoj Kumar Agnihotri, during his talk, highlighted the achievements of the school in academic and sports activities held during the session and expressed his gratitude to the parents for their co-operation.
The fascinating races among the four houses were cheered and applauded by the students and parents. Parents also participated in lemon and spoon race and the students were seen encouraging their parents.
Apart from the field and track events, the spectators were enthralled by the cultural items presented by the students. The most intriguing and embellishing aspect of all the events, were the resplendent cultural displays, participated by mass number of students, which splattered a riot of hues and vibrancy on the field that was based on the theme “ENDURANCE”.
The patriotic dance display by class 3rd and 5th was delightfully appreciated by the crowd while the ring dance by class 3rd and 4th and the Bharatiyam acrobatics were hugely applauded.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Vikesh Sandhal, Vice Principal SIPS, expressing his sincere gratitude to the chief guest, guest of honour, school management, teachers, students, parents and all the well wishers for their support and co-operation.
The event came to an end with the prize distribution ceremony. The chief guest handed out the prizes to all the winners. Courage House won the Cock House Trophy and Ms. Tanu Priya was declared the student of the year.
The programme culminated with the effervescent bhangra performance by the senior students. A fete was also organized during the day, exhibiting various stalls of culinary delights, swings and merry go round.
